A while back Facebook locked me out of my Second Life name account there. I figured I was either reported as a fake name, or I'd triggered some sort of automatic fake name algorithm. Every time I went to login, Facebook would push me through to a page asking for real life identity proof. Something I am not willing to provide, and indeed don't have for this name (JubJub Forder) anyway.
Frustrating yes, but it's Facebooks right, and I shrugged and moved on. Every now and then I'd check again to see if they'd relaxed their rules. No such luck.
A few weeks back, I was just checking again and the usual happened, back to the "please provide proof of identity' page. Grrrrr. This time I noticed the page provided a way to change the name and it suddenly occurred to me - hey if it's an automatic algorithm it's probably being triggered by the repetition in my first name - JubJub. So I changed the first name to Jub, and used the second name box to add the other Jub - Jub Jub Forder.
It worked! I could access my named account again - and even better - no data had been deleted AND the original name was still there as the main identifier of the account. So any shortcuts and links I'd sent in the past were still valid.
Now I can once again use my Facebook account to link up with Second Life friends and to do a little promotion ;)
